Weld Polyethylene Pipe - Refresher

Description

This is a 'Refresher' course only available to participants who have completed "Weld Polyethylene Pipe" and the following units (or equivalent):

PMBWELD302E - Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using electrofusion welding
PMWWELD301E - Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using butt welding

This refresher course will consider participants currency to meet the skills required for electro-fusion welding and butt welding of polyethylene pipe to comply with Australian Standards and manufacturers requirements.

Polyethylene pipe is used in numerous industries including viticulture, mining, plumbing and water industry operations. This short course will give you the fundamental basics when working in these industries.

  • Applicants must have completed the following units (or equivalent) and supply evidence of this as part of the registration process:
    - PMBWELD302E - Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using electrofusion welding
    - PMBWELD301E - Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using butt welding
  • - Joint inspection and pressure testing
    - Hydraulic butt welding equipment
    - Use of electro-fusion equipment and data logging processes
    - Polyethylene material inspection and joint preparation

    Skills and refresher assessment will cover demonstration of butt weld and electrofusion weld without instruction using correct processes and calculations.
  • Completing this refresher course will allow re-issue of a Competency Card and extend the currency period for an additional three years from the assessment date.
